Innovation can be defined as taking an idea to impact. Every product we use has made that trip from ideation, to discovery to eventually to market. That journey is its own kind of engineering. We speak with Joe Hadzima about how new companies actually get built. Joe is a senior lecturer at MIT's Sloan School of Management and part of the Martin Trust Center for Entrepreneurship, where he teaches The Nuts and Bolts of New Ventures. He shares how MIT's entrepreneurial ecosystem formed, why finding a customer who knows they have a problem matters more than the technology itself, and what 35 years of teaching founders has taught him about the mistakes worth avoiding.
